A fine English William IV / Early Victorian mahogany bookcase dating to circa 1840, featuring rich, highly figured mahogany and timeless classical proportions. The architectural configuration consists of a prominent moulded cornice over a pair of doors with restrained astragal bar glazing, flanked by grand full column pillars that frame both the upper display and the lower cabinet. The functional base houses two smoothly operating frieze drawers above a pair of handsomely panelled cabinet doors. In cleaned and detailed condition, retaining the original mellow colour and patina.
