A fine late 19th-century French two-door walnut bookcase / display armoire in the Louis XVI style. The piece features a gracefully arched and carved cornice topped with an openwork central crest. Below, a pair of shaped glazed doors with bevelled-edge glass panels open to reveal an adjustable interior shelving system. The upper cabinet is flanked by finely worked fluted columns and rests over a single full-width drawer fitted with antique brass pull handles. Presented in excellent restored condition. France, circa 1890
